It started with as family trip to Italy.  In Rome we visited the usual tourist spots and I had my first taste of gelato.  As an ice cream lover from a young age, this was heaven. When I returned from Italy, after eating gelato at any chance available, I decided to learn more about this wonderful dessert.  I discovered there was a Gelato University where you could learn to create gelato.  Going back to Italy, I attended Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna where you get to make gelato and learn the craft of artisan gelato.  With students from around the world we learned how to balance recipes, discover the various types of gelato that can be made, and create our own recipes.

It was at Gelato University where I learned the importance of fresh, quality ingredients in making the best craft gelato.  The goal of Skyline gelato is to use fresh ingredients, sourced from local suppliers where available, to create craft gelato and bring  a taste of Italy to the hill country
